If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (ISBN 0-06-024586-7) is the title of a 1985 book illustrated by Felicia Bond. It is the tenth and best-known book written by Laura Numeroff. Its plot deals with a boy who gives a cookie to a mouse, which in turn asks for various other favors. At length this leads back around to the mouse wanting another cookie. The book features two characters, a mouse and a boy. Neither character speaks, but their dialogue is reported indirectly by a narrator.
The main character of this story, Mouse, appears in three others: If You Take a Mouse to the Movies, If You Take a Mouse to School, and The Best Mouse Cookie.
The book was so popular that it inspired the If You Give a series, which includes If You Give a Pig a Pancake, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, and If You Give a Bear a Brownie.

What is the current rating for this book? I'm glad you asked, according to the popular books sites this little mouse has a 4/5 rating still. It's wonderful and so much so there is a series. I loved this book and my kids who are now in their 20's still love it to this day.
I would love to read your comments!

This was my favorite book as a child. I bought it in the 2nd grade when the book mobile came to my school. Thanks for all your support with my site.
I taught third grade for years and when I did the first grade teacher used this book for a great writing activity. I also like the other books she patterned after this one.
