A young boy sits down by his dad one
sunny day and listens to a tale about a boy named Andy and his dog
Norm. Andy and Norm went for a walk after the flood of 2008 in the
Hawkeye state. Norm being the happy dog he was couldn't resist
exploring near a stream. Norm found a floating stick and nibbled at
it. He tugged at it and yanked it. But, to Norms surprise the log is
bigger than he thought. Ultimately, Norm is pulled into the water and
his adventure begins. Unable to swim, Andy soon jumps in. The high
rushing water carries the two down the stream. What will happen to
Norm and Andy? Will these adventurers ever make it to dry land?
You'll have to read it to find out.
Stormin Norman is a wonderful story for
kids. The funny rhyming tale will roll off of a child's tongue and
fill his day with joy. Brightly colored illustrations bring to the
life the adventure of Norm and Andy. Any pet lover will get a kick
out of this very curious pup. What's even better is the story is
based off of a true even that took place in Iowa in 2008. Allen shows
kids friendship in the face of danger. In the flood many homes were
destroyed and lives were changed forever. Parents and teachers can
utilize this story to open dialogue about weather, floods and how
communities are affected by these drastic changes in climate.
Andy Allen will forever be an Iowan at
heart. He has been teaching kindergarten for seven years and holds a
bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in early
childhood education. When he is not composing new rhymes for his Norm
stories, coaches basketball and enjoys a good crossword puzzle. Andy
lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with his family. Follow the adventures of
Andy and Norm at www.andyandnorm.com.
Brian Barber lives in the neighboring
state of Minnesota at the tip of Lake Superior in Duluth. Brian is an
illustrator and animator who has illustrated several children's books
and animated short films and TV commercials. See more of Brian's work

It is time for the
great feast. Mother, the Star of the North Sky, is lighting the way
for her children, Sun, Moon and Wind. All that she asks is that they
bring her something back from the feast. At the feast, Sun shone very
bright, Moon glided on the Wind's cool breeze. They met other stars
and danced with the rains. But it was Moon who remembered to bring
Mother something from the feast. His reward was that he would be
blessed. Moon will always be cool and light and calm the night sky.
Sun, will be the brightest but people will cover their heads because
he is bright and hot. Wind, will be strong but whip the rains, all
creatures will hide from him.
This delightful
Indian Folktale will teach a whimsical story about why the moon
shines so bright in the night. Young readers will appreciate the heat
of the sun, and the treachery of the wind. This is a wonderful story
parents will love to read to their children before bedtime. This book
is also a great tool for teachers to introduce folk tales in the
classroom and have children make up their own stories about the sun,
moon and wind.
Hathi
and Chiti is an emerging new global children's brand for all ages,
that uses eastern-themed characters and concepts as a gateway to
educate little ones about different cultures around the world. Hathi
and Chiti are the Indian words for elephant and ant. Hathi, an
elephant, and Chiti, an ant, are best friends from India folklore
whose adventures together are of legendary proportion. Hathi Chiti
uses folklore as a backdrop for modern day storytelling as a way of
explaining the world and sharing life lessons.
