Title: Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo's Meteorite Mission
Author:Oneeka Williams M.D.
Publisher: Mascot Books
ISBN: 9781620865545

Did you know there is a place in South Africa that was created when a meteorite collided with earth over two billion years ago? Today, this site is known as Vredefort Dome. If you were wondering how old earth is, it's 4.5 billion years old. If you have a young science enthusiast, then allow me to introduce you to Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo!

Dr. Dee Dee is very special. She can heal and repair just about anything and not even the sky is the limit or space either, for that matter. She has some very special friends that help her, and they are Simon Scissors, Marky Medicine bag, Suzy Suture and Sydnee Syringe to name a few. When a meteorite breaks away from an asteroid, and is headed towards Chelyabinsk, Russia, Dr. Dee Dee is called to action.

I'm Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo
Super surgeon on the go!
My hands were made to heal
I cut, I sew, I tie with zeal;
No problem is too big or small,
Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo can tackle them all!

The people of Chelyabinsk hear a big sonic boom as the meteorite enters the atmosphere. It travels faster that the speed of sound. And suddenly it crashes. Buildings crash and citizens get hurt. Dr. Dee Dee heals and patches up the victims of the big meteorite and takes the big piece of the meteorite back where it belongs, in space.

Williams has done an excellent job of bringing science and space to the forefront for kids. The explanation of asteroids, meteoroids, meteors and meteorites is put into simple terms for young science enthusiasts to absorb. The back of the book has a glossary, discovery questions and lots of learning words for kids to read, comprehend and have fun with. Parents and teachers can use this tool to really bring about a better understanding of the science of space. Vivid and colorful pictures along with a light-hearted story make for a fun read.
