Review:

What would you tell your little one about Little Jack Horner at Christmas time? It's simple:
Little Jack Horner
Sat in a corner
Eating his Christmas pie.
He stuck in his thumb.
And pulled out a plum.
And said, “What a good boy am I!”

Are you planning on baking some Hot Cross Buns?
Hot cross buns, hot cross buns,
One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns.

Does your little one love counting games? If so, there are five little turtles who do too!
One baby turtle alone and new.
Finds a friend, and then there are two.
Two baby turtles crawl down to the sea.
They find another, and then there are three.
Three baby turtles crawl along the shore.
They find another, and then there are four.
Four baby turtles go for a dive.
Up swims another, and then there are five.

Old fashioned rhymes are the best kind and can be revisited and shared all over again. Cute colorful pictures show characters in action which for little ones creates a positive learning tool and encourages children to be interactive. Repetitious rhymes that bounce and flow are what children love, especially when parents animate their speech. As you read along pause to give your child a chance to respond. You will see that they are learning, mimicking and having fun.

  1. I find that children between the ages of 2-5 know very little of the nursery rhymes in a day care setting. I thought all children knew some before they even started school. Well that was years ago now I guess parents are to busy or the younger ones don't know them all themselves.

  2. Thanks so much for stopping by Sidne. I agree with you. For those parents who read to their children regularly a book like this is a great addition to any home library. When my children were young I read these nursery rhymes to them and will do the same for my grandchildren.
