Isabella Santiago doesn't want to learn Spanish. But her Abuela feels that she should as a part of her heritage. As her family prepares to move to a new neighborhood, Isabella is afraid, because of her dark wavy hair and brown skin, other kids would think that she could speak the language. Isabella also worried about leaving her friend Sally.


Finally, Isabella gives in and plans to take Spanish lesson with her Dad. But when he suddenly fell ill and was submitted to a hospital, he begged for her to learn from Abuela instead. But when that doesn't go as planned, Isabella finds she has some explaining to do.
