Review:
When Talia visits her grandmother,
she is asked to help make Hamantaschen, special cookies for Purim. This doesn’t
sound very tasty to Talia and she calls the cookies Haman-tushies. While
preparing the cookies, Talia learns the story of Purim. Of course, Talia had
lots of questions and she learned so much from her grandmother. Do you think
Talia will at least try a Hamantaschen?
The Jewish holiday Purim is
celebrated on March 12th. It is a celebration of Queen Esther who
saved the Jewish people from Haman’s plot to destroy them. Readers will be
enlightened by this story and learn about Jewish culture. Expressive
illustrations invite readers to share in the history of the holiday. Simple
sentence structure help beginners gain confidence in their reading skills. The
back pages share a special recipe for readers to try at home.
