Review:
This book isn’t just for
boys, girls will love it too. This fun read covers many of the colors of the
rainbow. When you think of gender and color you might be surprised at what you
will find within these pages. The colorful illustrations share boys and girls
in pink wearing fancy clothes. Girls and boys are in blue playing baseball,
wearing gold crowns and eating orange popsicles too. Black and white kittens and
puppies can be for girls and boys as well as brown for teddy bears that need a
good cuddle.
Author Robb Pearlman has
created a story that’s perfect for boys and girls. Beginner readers will enjoy
the simple sentence structure along with helpful and familiar images which
makes this a great way to learn to navigate through the pages of a book. Readers
will also see kids of every color and even kids in wheel chairs. This is a
great way to teach kids about how colors can be for everyone. Parents and
teachers will enjoy sharing this story in a classroom or at bedtime. This is a
great book to open up discussions about gender bias with regards to colors.
