How many random acts of kindness have you done today?
Title: Henry Is Kind:
A Story of Mindfulness

Review:
For some people simple acts
of kindness are just part of their everyday life. For others it may be a little
more complex. In this classroom environment a teacher shares with her students
how to practice slowing down and how to pay attention to their bodies hearts
and minds. The students share their thoughts and this triggers an assignment of
Kindness. They must do a random act of kindness and create a picture to share
with the class. Everyone does this but one student, Henry. This made Henry
upset and he thought perhaps he wasn’t kind at all. But when the other students
shared some of the kind things he had done for them, Henry became happy when he
realized he was kind.
Author Linda Ryden has been
teaching mindfulness and hearfulness to her students since 2003. She has been featured
on CBS, ABC and Fox news broadcasts. The back pages of this book share how
others can teach mindfulness. Readers will also find links to other websites and
resources for more information. Parents, teachers and caregivers can use this
as a guide to teach kids how to listen to their minds and bodies and also to
teach compassion.
