Heroes of the Battlefield
Brian and Brenda Williams
In 1939 Britain and France
went to war with Germany. It wasn’t long, and the war turned into a global
effort. Fighting the Nazis and Hitler was necessary to save the world from a
group that hated democracy, systems of equality and other racial groups like
the Jews. This war took 57 nations and finally ended in 1945. Wars create
real-life heroes and even some unsung heroes.
John French from Australia died saving his comrades. Audi Murphy from
the U.S. received medals for bravery all before he turned 21 years old. In the
1940s there was also the Iwo Jima battle, Pearl Harbor, The Battle of Midway
and the Battle of Britain.
Wars have been plaguing
mankind for centuries. In this guide readers will learn about war, heroes,
ships, planes and how people fought. Actual black and white photos, fun facts
and a glossary on the back pages. There is also a list of websites and other
resources for eager minds to learn about the wars of the world. Parents and
teachers can use this tool to teach children cause and effect, and so much
more.
