Review:
Can you lose things in a
tiny home? That’s what Sissy is wondering when they have to move from their big
spacious home into a tiny home on wheels.
Sissy’s parents have a big
surprise! They are planning on making some changes in their lives. They want to
explore and live a life that is minimal in space and belongings. Sissy loves
their big house and yard. She loves the tall trees and her big soft bed. She will
have to make some big adjustments in order to go to a smaller space. Friends
who have gone tiny share with her how to repurpose some of her things. As she begins
to purge her toys and clothes, she starts to feel better when she realizes that
other kids in need will enjoy them as much as she has. When the new tiny home arrives,
Sissy is surprised. Will she love her family’s new home and look forward to
their adventures?
Authors Rebecca Flansburg
and Ba Norrgard have created a delightful story of an ever-growing lifestyle in
tiny homes. Young readers will be engaged and find delight in the colorful
illustrations. Beginner readers will find the sentence structure easy to
navigate. Parents and teachers can discuss with young listeners how tiny homes
have helped families and veterans begin a new life with minimal cost. They can
also discuss how kids could adapt to living tiny.
