Review:
Nick Saint is your average
kid. He plays video games and has a nice home with both of his parents. Nick
seemed to think that all families were like his. He had no reason to think
otherwise, that is, until a letter from Santa was delivered to him by accident.
Nick reads the letter and discovers a kid named Cooper is homeless and living
in a shelter with his mom and little brother. For Christmas he asked Santa to
help his mom find a job and his brother get a toy truck. Nick saw that Cooper didn’t ask for anything
in return, so he decided he would help but, first he must figure out who Cooper
was and how he could help. In his quest, Nick learned about being homeless and
how to help others and be thankful for what he has.
Author Deedee Cummings has
written a delightful and heartfelt story about giving and thankfulness. She is
also the founder of Make A Way Media, It Pays To Read and the Louisville Book
Festival. This tale of Christmas was beautifully illustrated by Charlene
Mosley. Families can sit together and read this story and be inspired to
celebrate the holiday by giving of themselves or donating food and clothing to
a shelter in need.
