Review:

Every June in a small village a rose garden is the popular place for visitors of all ages to walk through the garden to admire the beautiful colors and take in the aromatic fragrances of the roses. The roses were white, pink and red. There were even a few yellow roses. But the rose that stood out the most was lavender. This little rose was so unique in this garden that she felt shy and unsure of opening her petals. She felt different and knew she didn’t look like the others.

The gardener spent extra time watering and speaking softly to the lavender rose. The other roses did the same and invited the little bud to open and that she would love the sunlight and the visitors. But the little lavender rose stayed hidden. By the time September came something had changed. Do you think the little lavender rose finally shared her beauty?

Author Bob Zaslow better known as “Mr. Z” has created a story of shyness. Parents and teachers can use this book as a tool to teach overcoming fear and how we are all different and that is a good thing.
