Review:
When the night comes, and
your world starts to wind down, a delightful story or poem would be the perfect
way to quiet your mind. The six sections of this wonderful book consist of
poems and artwork for Twilight, Dreamland, Moonlit Menagerie, Creepy Crawlies, and
things that Go Bump in the Night, Minds Ablaze, Midnight and Magic and Love
Among the Ruins.
One example is Tired Tim by Walter de la Mare which features artwork by Theodor Alt called Late Riser. The poem references a young boy who is bored but lacks any sort of motivation. The artwork shows a young girl and her teddy bear asleep next to the bed, each in a chair.
Another example is a poem by Alison Prince titled Rats which refers to a son who wants to learn how to get things done at the expense of someone else and the best way to learn is from watching rats. This poem features artwork by Ferdinand van Kessel showing dancing rats.
The poetry and artwork in this book may be recognized as well as the poets. There is something here for everyone to enjoy and the visual aspect makes this book even more appealing.
