Review:
A young girl admires her mom and wishes she could be more like her. Her mom is strong, brave, and eats weird things. But when her mom gets sick and has to visit the doctor and isn’t able to do some of the things she used to it is pretty scary for the young girl. She must find her own bravery and strength just like her mom. Her mother’s kind words help her find her own bravery, strength, and how to be fierce.
This compelling story about
bravery and how a child sees a sickness that slowly takes a loved one away from
them is heartfelt and teaches children how to push through and find their
strength. This book also teaches compassion and how to be independent enough to
push back fear. Soft-colored illustrations show the emotion and the triumph of
the main character. Parents and teachers can use this as a tool to teach emotions
surrounded by loss and how to find the bravery within themselves and what it
means to be brave.
